Gratitude Journaling

It's the last Sunday of the summer.

School begins for my son tomorrow and its back to the full swing of life.

It reminded me that this time last year, my son had just barely been home with us for a month.  He was taken by CPS and placed with my mother in law.  My 2 daughters were also removed from our home and placed with their birth father, they still are not back home yet.  I just have visitation with them one day a week.  All due to my unfortunate choices and being an addict.

I was pondering and reflecting on how hard things were last year, and how in the world I was able to make it through that year.  I thought I would share with you one of the greatest tools that helped to keep me in a positive mind frame and stay focused on the hope I had for a brighter future.

GRATITUDE JOURNALING!!!!

Gratitude Changes Everything........

It sounds so cheesy and simple.  But there were many nights last year where the guilt and shame and depression were so strong, I had trouble falling asleep.  Honestly I am not much of a writer.  In my addiction I actually wrote a lot.  Not positive journaling, really dark, angry, sad writing that I can't even bring myself to read today.

I needed to keep journaling as simple as possible.  I found so many cool ideas, tips and tricks on Pinterest that helped me find what I was looking for.

I always felt so much better after just journaling one page.  It helped me to find peace and put me in the mind frame I needed to be in to keep doing the next right thing.

Here are the first couple of pages from my Gratitude Journal, to give you some ideas and get you started:
